Our new apartment will not let us have charcoal or propane grills. We're big BBQ fans and were determined to find a way to keep enjoying our favorite Summer foods. We had had a George Foreman counter top grilling machine in the past so we looked to see if there were any sort of electric grills and were so excited when we found this grill! We bought it before Memorial Day & had our annual BBQ. All of our family and us LOVED how our food came out! One of the best parts is that this grill can be used with or without the stand. We used this grill right on our kitchen table and then just set it on the counter out of the way. My husband's favorite thing was this was crazy easy to clean! We are so happy & ready for all the upcoming Summer holidays!
This is the perfect grill for apartment balcony. It was easy to clean and it's really non-stick. In comparison to other brands, this actually heat up the plate instead of heating lights. It cooked really well and was very easy to install. I would definitely recommend to purchase this if you have a small balcony.
We bought this grill, I think around 2005. After two months of loving it I began to worry that it might wear out eventually and we got another. When the original started to wear out, chipped contacts at the plug in connector, I began using the backup in 2018. Mind you, the first was still working, but I thought it's time for retirement. The second one is in use now, working great, and I got a third one, sits unopened in a box, just in case. Quick, reliable, easy to use, easy to clean. You can go on low or medium heat for hot dogs or roast, or highest settings for steak. On the highest heat, after a 5-minute pre-heat, medium rare steaks need 12-14 minutes, the big and thick steaks from Costco. On thinner meat 4-8 minutes is enough.
Awesome value at only $80 ! I have it setup in my kitchen and is perfect for the winter when grilling outdoors is not an option. So far I've made hamburgers, hot dogs, grilled chicken, and grilled portabello mushrooms. There is virtually no smoke created and I've left the cover on each time I've used it. There's a vent at the top you can open or close depending on how steamy you want the inside to get. I'm 5'10 and the stand is a good height that I don't have to bend over to cook. Clean-up is very easy since the grill area lifts right off and I just take the sink and rinse and wipe. The inside of the cover will need to be rinsed and wiped clean as well. There's also a tray underneath the grill that catches grease/fat. I simply let this cool then wipe it with a paper towel. I'm very happy with this purchase because it allows me to grill year-round, and for the cost you can't go wrong.
YES get it! I love mine!! I just got it in today and did a batch of 8 Oklahoma onion burgers and had room to spare!! I started off at turning the dial to "5" and that charred one side of the burgers so then turned it down to 3 and a half. So 3.5 to 4 is a good number to turn the temperature dial to. Which maybe instructions would say that... I didn't look any up online and the only ones it comes with are on how to put it together which took a whole 5 minutes at most. It's very easy to put together and you'll be grilling in no time! NO they aren't going to make your food taste like charcoal... I don't know why anyone would think anything other than charcoal would do that... That being said- who on earth does anyone want food that tastes like coal and chemicals? I sure won't miss lugging bags of charcoal and lighter fluid home!! The dome lid? Genius! It locks in the moisture and it made for the most juicy burgers you'd ever had- hold the grease! After cooking 8 burgers the grease tray looked pretty full. They were large burgers though. So i'd say maybe between batches for fatty foods like burgers that you would have to lift the plate up and drain the fat. It does have open slats in the grill bottom so if the grease tray goes over, it'll come out the bottom. That could be a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it. Ha. No it doesn't come with an actual thermostat but you can easily drill you a hole into the lid and screw one on there. They are available here on amazon or your local hardware stores. Hope this helps!!
The lid does hook nicely on to the side of the grill while you want to set it aside to move your food around on the grill. There IS a large knob on the INSIDE of the grill's lid that hooks onto the edge of the grill. I only mention this because several people have complained there is no where to set the lid when they are cooking. But there is. I have just received my grill and I will update this after I have cooked some fish on it Outdoors. To me all fish should be cooked Outdoors! LOL so I'm very happy to have this Grill---- it is very cute and the perfect size for my apartment patio. I have also ordered some George Foreman sponges because I see that some people use metal brushes to clean the grill (wha!!!???) and then they complain that the coating is coming off? Apparently only one should use those George Foreman sponges? I also plan to buy some S- hooks to hang my cooking utensils off of the grill's lipped edge.
This grill is the best. Great for cooking and thought my food wouldn’t look as good on it, but was wrong. The assembly instructions aren’t the best. When you put the stand together, press really hard to connect the two poles.
Ok I have only used this one time but all my food came out great. First you must know I am no cook-really!!! I have never ever cooked on any kind of grill before. When ever I have cooked meat of any kind it comes out tough and dry. On this grill I cooked a large T-bone to share with the hubby, rubbed with olive oil and seasoned with mcCormick's smokehouse maple seasoning (to give cooked on BBQ flavor). Cooked skewers of peppers, onions & mushrooms brushed with olive oil and liquid smoke (also to give BBQ flavor) . Last of all I put on some ears of corn. All of the food I did was because of photos I had seen people cooking on this grill and I tried to imitated it, not because I am creative. The steak was delicious and tender and all the veggies where delicious also. My husband and I are empty nesters, early 60's and normally eat in separate rooms in front of a TV or computer. When my husband saw the food I had prepared he said, "I am eating at the table." This is a big deal because, he thought the food I had prepared looked so good he should treat it as a holiday meal. We ate it together at the table and enjoyed every bite!! He also helped me clean up with out asking because of how great all the food was (hardly ever happens). The grill was easy enough to clean and oh my I will sooooo be using this often. I did use it out side just for the atmosphere but fortunately I do have a large kitchen and will be using it all year long.!!! For the price you can't bet it. FYY, I live out in the country and could have any kind of grill I want. I just really don't want the hassle of always making sure we have propane or charcoal.
This is our second George Foreman electric grill. The first one we bought in 2003 and I guess from age and where we live in the extreme heat and sun of the east county in San Diego, it just got a little old looking. The grill still worked perfectly, everything was still stable and fine. But my spouse dropped the cover one evening when grilling and that put a big dent in the metal and broke the handle. So it was time to replace. It works great for grilling hamburgers, chicken and aluminum foil fish packets filled with fresh veggies. We didn't want a large gas grill and this was perfect for our compact patio needs. We purchased the Classic Accessories 55-178-015101-EC Ravenna Kettle Grill Cover to protect it and now it's protected and looks nice and neat. ready when we are to grill it up! Highly recommend. Hope this is helpful. Jc
Good for anyone in an apartment where gas/coal is not allowed. It doesn't take up too much room but the grill surface is big enough to cook up to 15-servings. Nice size. Heats evenly across the grill. Definitely gets hot enough to sear meats with no problem. Any grease generated flows right to the grease tray. Cleans up pretty easily with dish soap and a sponge, If you want to use it as a counter top grill you simply lift the grill off the stand and away you go. No fasteners or latches to break or fumble with. That is convenient during inclement weather. Just besure the surface the grill is set up can support the heat and run off (for got to insurt grease tray LOL) from the unit. After using it twice I only have a couple trivial issues. Not keen on the overall plastic construction – seems flimsy and have noted a number of surface cracks in the stand and grill base. This is not affecting the functionality of the grill as of yet. There is no place to hang or set grilling tools on unit. The instruction manual has no information on the temperature ranges (1-5) - trial and error on settings. I'll update if I have any problems worth posting. Ordered cleaning tools and cover to maintain the unit. Very pleased with them so far. Overall the grill couldn’t be any easier to setup, use or care for.
